GoPro Hero10 Photos

Hello, I hope that you have had a lovely weekend.

Today I wanted to share a couple of images taken from a GoPro Hero10.

Whilst out running the sky was looking incredible. I placed the GoPro onto a nearby fence and recorded a short video.

These were merely screen shots from the footage.

Sometimes it isn’t about the fanciest of cameras and pixel count.

Nice lighting trumps all those things.

I would love to see your training photos or comments over on Instagram @lee_ramsden.

Thanks

Oil and gas Industrial Medic.

Medic, oil and gas industry, Andrew Macdonald, sickbay, medcenter, photo by Lee Ramsden,

Hello,

This is the platform medic.

In the UK oil and gas industry there is a requirement for all installations to have sufficient medical cover and provisions.

The offshore medics role -

Treat people working on an offshore oil or gas rig for any injuries or illnesses.

Provide medical care for anyone on the rig or platform who has an accident and make sure that people are fit and safe to work. The health, safety and welfare of all those working on the rig would be the medics responsibility. They also carry out administrative tasks.

  • Provide 24-hour medical care for the crew

  • Carry out routine health checks

  • Treat illnesses and minor wounds

  • Keep accurate medical records

  • Train other people on the rig in first aid

  • Order new supplies of medicines and equipment

  • Carry out health promotion activities

  • Advise on health and safety issues

  • Arrange for very ill people to be taken back to land for treatment

The medic advises the senior managers if they thought a person was not fit for work or might affect other people’s safety.

If someone had an injury or illness that you were not sure how to treat, they would phone the onshore company doctor for advice.

Today we meet, the small team involved in feeding and looking after all 80 workers, on a North Sea oil and gas platform.

These guys do a fantastic job, with such a small team in cleaning, preparing meals and trying to keep moral high for a large crew of guys. Who are working hard in all weathers, away from home for long periods, missing their families.

It is un-measurable their involvement, but any rig worker will tell you, that a clean accommodation and a good hearty meal, makes for a happy crew.

The Petrofac O.I.M for the BP Miller decommissioning project.

The Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) is the most senior manager of an offshore platform operating on the UKCS.

Many offshore operators have adopted this UK offshore management model and title and applied it to their operations in all global regions irrespective of the local regulations in force.

In the UK the individual must be officially registered as an OIM with the Offshore Safety Division of the Health and Safety Executive and the OIM is responsible for the health, welfare and safety of the personnel on board the installation, whether a drilling rig, production platform or a support vessel (e.g. a flotel).

Good morning, hope that you had a good weekend.

This was the set up, pretty straight forward really. Two light sources, both camera left. The elinchrom ranger in a large octa positioned in front of myself, so the light was feathered and soft.

with a bare elinchrom quadra behind back lighting the snow.

With a snow machine you can see on the left of the image.

The image was shot with grey paper background intentionally to aid in the photoshop work afterwards.

Image set up and execution around 45 mins, and all photoshop work an hour and half.

Some times these images can take a lot more, but having the final goal in your mind and through experience you can achieve that goal much quicker and have a nicer final product.

Oliver Neville - Studio shoot.

Composite image Oliver Neville in the studio

Last sunday i tried out my first studio shoot, and i thought it was fantastic.

My good friends over at

MelenStudio's

let me hire out their studio for the day.

I had a plan of what i was wanting to achieve before i arrived, and was more then happy with the results.

For a living Oliver is an estate agent. I wanted to do some images of him in his work wear, and then some fun images. The goal was to show businesses that with a little thought you can spruce up your websites with some professional looking images of the employees, and with most businesses these days having facebook pages, why not have some fun images of the work force?.

Stage Writer. Jessica Luxembourg.

I was asked recently to do some portraiture head shots and promo shots for a fantastic stage / screen writer actress Jessica Luxembourg.

With having a little bit of notice with this shoot, i wanted to set it, in a relevant location.

I came up with the idea of having books in the back ground and so set about trying to find a willing bookshop.

I thought the best places to try would be small independently run stores, and so the search began...

They are becoming harder and harder to find. Even this store will be closed at the end of the month.

I think due to the Internet, people do not seem to visit these places any more. Even i am very guilty of this. As it is far to easy to order books from say Amazon or if going to a store we head to Waterstones as they have a huge collection of items. It is a great shame with the changing world the "small business" has an almost impossible fight to remain in the game.

This was shot in the book castle over in Dunstable,

A big thanks to the ladies who run the shop, They were great and very friendly, with out their help i do not think i would of been able to achieve my goal and so would of had to resort with another back drop.

Xav and Corinne Shoot.

Good friends of mine Xav and Corinne wanted some pictures taking of themselves.

Corinne is a singer/song writer. Her personal site is here and goes under the name Vanessa René

" and so want a promo pic, where as Xav loves his bike and so wanted one with his beloved triumph bike...

The Bike picture, i was trying again with the flash at sunset theme i like. This has worked better then the car one i have previously done.

Once again the TTL mode is letting me down. It has made me bite the bullet and im saving for some pocket wizard flash syncs. With syncs you can be so much more creative too, rather then just placing the flashes where they can see one another.

Here are my 2 favourite images from the day.
